Perfect for your pampered pets

The Pet Barn, located at the top of Gravel Hill, Sonning Common, has now been open for over two years and would like to thank their customers for all their support.

Quite often called an Aladdin’s cave by their customers, they supply a wide range of products, both food and accessories, for your dogs, cats, mice, guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, ferrets, fish, birds, chickenS and goats.

They stock a wide range of wild bird feed, feeders, chicken runs and houses. And they also stock a range of funky wellie boots and have a gift section and a range of hand-made greeting cards.

They will do their best to supply any items they do not normally stock and are open six days a week.

There are no problems with parking as they have a large car park at the rear of the shop.

You don't have to be Barking Mad to visit - but it helps

If you would like your dog to have a fun holiday while you’re enjoying yours, contact Barking Mad. They arrange for your dog to stay with a caring host who will make your dog feel at home, whilst sticking to all the same routines — from where your dog sleeps to what and when they are fed.

Barking Mad hosts (like Jane, pictured here with doggy visitor Polka Dot), only ever look after one customer’s dog(s) at a time, ensuring that your dog receives true 1:1 care.

Your dog is matched to the host best suited to them, whether families with children, retired people, or couples with their own dog.

Val Walls runs the local branch and has 200 dogs using the service. Demand is so high that Val is looking for more host families.

Being a host is great fun: you will have the companionship of a dog when you want without the financial commitment, and there’s nothing like the friendship that a dog gives.

Hosts must be dog lovers, have somewhere cosy for the dog to sleep, have a secure garden and be at home during the day.

Contact Val on 0118 969 3115, email val.walls@barkingmad.uk.com or visit www.barkingmad.uk.com

Vet centre gets revamp

Following the recent expansion and refurbishment of the surgery, The Vetinary Centre is able to offer a greater variety of clinics and services:

Pet Smile Month: See a qualified nurse for a free dental check-up.

Healthy Heart Month: (throughout May). Bring your dog in for a free heart check in May.

Fit for Life clinics: If you have an older pet why not bring him along for a thorough health check?

National Vaccine Amnesty: If your dog’s or cat’s vaccines have lapsed they will start the course again. The second vaccine will be free.
