Clowning about in the village hall Review
Published 30/12/13

LAUGHTER was not an option when watching A Komedy Of Errors, a show at which audience participation helped create the circus atmosphere, because you could not help laughing out loud.

Steven and Ben, of Circus Berzercus, are professional clowns who know how to interact with — and entertain — their audience.

Whether it was entering and crossing the stage in an erratic manner on a bicycle whose handlebars and front wheel were not attached to the seat and rear wheel, or balancing a female member of the audience on a plank, the seemingly out-of-control pair had the audience responding. Watching their child assistants’ expressive faces as they became unwittingly involved in mayhem, seemingly unable to believe that an adult could be so irresponsible and silly, was entertainment itself.

In amongst the mayhem there was some really good juggling and various tricks making an excellent show and ensuring a entertaining evening for all who attended.

The show, which took place at Dunsden Village Hall, was supported by A Good Night Out, a countywide scheme supported by South Oxfordshire to bring live professional performances to village halls.
