AFTER a successful run in the summer of 2012 Dreamboats and Petticoats is coming back to the New Theatre in Oxford later this month. The show, inspired by the multi-million selling albums of the same name, made its name in London’s West End.
The story follows young musicians Norman and Bobby as they compete to win a national songwriting competition and — perhaps more importantly — the attentions of a girl named Sue.
When Bobby discovers what shy Laura can do on the piano, love and rock ‘n’ roll fame beckon.
The show premiered in Bromley in 2009 and has now played to more than two million people across the UK.
Written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, it features classic rock ‘n’ roll tracks from artists including Roy Orbison, the Shadows, Eddie Cochran and Billy Fury.
Popular numbers in the shoe include Shaking All Over, Bobby’s Girl, Only Sixteen and Runaround Sue.
The show hits the New Theatre Oxford as part of a national tour from Monday, February 17 to Saturday, February 22.
