ACTOR Samuel West enjoys working with musicians — last summer he narrated Henry V for Henley Symphony Orchestra’s concert at Shiplake College. Next week he is back in the area, this time narrating children’s favourite Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals at the Hexagon in Reading.
West, who currently plays Frank Edwards in ITV series Mr Selfridge, will join principals from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment as well as piano duo Katia and Marielle Labèque for a concert celebrating French classical music.
Katia and Marielle’s performance at Reading’s concert hall last season earned a standing ovation.
Next Wednesday’s concert also includes music by Ravel, Debussy and Ibert.
* The concert takes place at the Hexagon on Wednesday, February 19 at 7.30pm. Box office 0118 960 6060 or visit www.readingarts.com
