My, my, my... song and piano line-up
Published 24/03/14

MUSIC legends Laurie Holloway and Barry Mason will appear at the Crooked Billet in Stoke Row for an evening of entertainment described by their host as “a very magical one-off”.

Singer and songwriter Barry Mason has written worldwide hits for musicians including Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, Barbara Streisand, the Drifters, Englebert Humperdinck, Charles Aznavour, the Fortunes, Edison Lighthouse and Des O’Connor.

His much-loved classics include Delilah, The Last Waltz, Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes), There Goes My First Love and I Pretend.

Barry’s guest for the evening is Laurie Holloway who will accompany him on piano. Perhaps best known as the musical director for Michael Parkinson’s chat show, Laurie was also the musical director for Strictly Come Dancing.

He has appeared as the subject of This Is Your Life. Laurie has written numerous TV theme tunes, musical scores and favourite familiar jingles.

Head chef and owner of the Crooked Billet, Paul Clerehugh, said: “Hear Delilah sung live by the bloke who wrote it, accompanied by Parky’s pianist in the intimacy of this tiny country pub — and get goosebumps!”

The show is on Wednesday, April 9 at the Crooked Billet, Stoke Row. For reservations call (01491) 681048.
