AWARD winning Henley singer-songwriter Megan Henwood will perform material from her second album at Nettlebed Folk Song Club next Monday, writes Emma Griffin.
The event will give folk fans an exclusive preview of Head, Heart, Hand before it is released in the summer.
Written in isolated environments around Oxfordshire and Cornwall, the album is darker than her debut, with a wider variety of genres influencing its creation.
Megan said: “I really wanted to take my time over developing my sound and direction. There is an underlying theme of loss, anger and grief throughout the songs.”
Megan won the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award in 2009 with her brother Joe, beating off strong competition in the final at Queen Elizabeth Hall on London’s Southbank at the age of 20.
* Megan will be at the Nettlebed Club on Monday, March 31 at 8pm. Tickets are £12.50 and can be purchased on the door or online at www.nettlebedfolkclub.co.uk
