MAGICIAN Paul Daniels will officially start this year’s Wargrave 10km race.
Daniels, who lives in Willow Lane, has fired the starting gun for the last five races and will return for the annual run on Sunday, June 8.
He said: “It’s always a good morning, I love it. I got back in touch with the organisers and told them I don’t mind doing it again this year. It’s always fun, well attended and there are lots of kids out selling cookies.
“I’ve never run it, I’ve not even thought about it for more than a second. I’ve said many times I don’t do exercise, I wasn’t bad as a sprinter when I was younger but I can’t do long distance.”
He added: “I spend two hours a night walking up and down the stage for my job, that’s all the exercise I do.”
The race, now in its 32nd year, is organiser by Wargrave Runners. It will start at 10am at the recreation ground in Recreation Road and runners will take on a circular route through Crazies Hill and Cockpole Green.
Two children’s fun runs will precede the main race, one for primary school children at 9am and one for secondary school children at 9.15am.
