Shiplake panto aims to dwarf the others
Published 09/01/17

BILLED as “the perfect potion to perk you up post-Christmas”, this year’s Shiplake pantomime is a retelling of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The Shiplake and Dunsden Dramatic Organisation — aka SHADDO — are staging award-winning scriptwriter Ben Crocker’s hilarious retelling of the beloved fairytale.

A spokesman for the group said: “From the fearsome and wicked Queen Caligula to the innocent and charming Snow White, this production will have you laughing, singing, hissing, and booing at every turn.

“Magic mirrors, poisonous apples, plots, picnics, and six and a half dwarfs — a taste of what’s in store, as well as being dazzled and mesmerised by real-life magic.”

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs runs from Thursday, January 26, to Saturday, January 28, at Shiplake Memorial Hall in Memorial Avenue, Shiplake Cross.

The evening performances take place at 7.30pm and there is a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. A licensed bar will be available at the venue.

Tickets are priced £5 for the Thursday evening, performance, £8 for the Saturday matinee and £10 for the Friday and Saturday evenings.

They can be purchased in advance from Shiplake Corner Shop and Binfield Heath Post Office, as well as on the door — with a discount of 50p per ticket for groups of 10 or more.

The spokesman added: “Mirror, mirror, on the wall, maybe I will go to the SHADDO pantomime after all…”
