ARE you one of the millions of people suffering from back pain in the UK today? The Henley Chiropractic Centre can help you put this experience behind you.
Back pain affects a large proportion of the population. Most cases are not suitable for surgery but do not respond to ongoing pain medication treatment either. In 2009 the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) concluded that chiropractic care should be recommended by the NHS. It was also one of the official therapies available to the athletes during the 2012 Olympic Games.
This week is the UK Back Care Awareness week (October 7 to 11). This year carers have been identified as a target group in need of improved awareness of back care health. British Chiropractic Association (BCA) chiropractors Stefan Nilsson and Jorgen Rasmussen, at the Henley Chiropractic Centre, explain: “Back pain affects a large proportion of the population and can have a massive impact on that individual’s quality of life. Suffering with back pain will influence everything you do and everybody you know.
“Most of the time you should be able to carry on working whilst receiving appropriate care and advice. The sooner the person comes to see us with his or her health challenge, the smaller the impact will be on their quality of life. Unfortunately, the longer the symptoms persist the harder it becomes to cope with. Back Care Awareness week is a great annual event, but the truth is that this is a massive problem affecting business as well as the suffering individual, in any size company in the UK right now.
“We think we are in a great position to help this group of people. We have more than 27 years of combined experience providing chiropractic care for the people of Henley. With a very motivated team and a purpose-built building for chiropractic care, we can accept any severity of back problem in any age group. We treat patients from all types of working environments. We work closely with local GP surgeries but patients more often call us directly for our advice. Our hands-on approach tailored with individual home care programmes is something we see work time and time again.
“At the Henley Chiropractic Centre, we recommend a very simple three-minute exercise routine entitled ‘Straighten Up UK’ from the British Chiropractic Association (BCA). It is really easy to incorporate into daily life to help strengthen the spine and improve posture. The exercise routine can be accessed on the BCA website at http://bit.ly/straightenup.
“Today’s patients expect their care to be convenient for them at the same time as they are getting results with their treatment. Painkillers and anti-inflammatory medication can be useful in certain circumstances, but our patients are looking to address the cause of their back pain rather then just masking their symptoms. We therefore spend longer time with our patients when they first join our practice. That way we can accurately determine not only why the patient is struggling with symptoms, but also how we can best remedy the situation”.
The Henley Chiropractic Centre is open six days a week and offers weekend and evening appointments.
The clinic is centrally positioned in Henley and has a large, free car park, four ground-floor treatment rooms and full disabled access. The centre is covered by all major insurance companies including BUPA and AXA/PPP.
