THE Abbey School is a vibrant and welcoming community of almost 1,100 girls aged from three to 18 years old.

Unrivalled academic excellence is achieved in a warm and supportive pastoral environment and an exceptional extracurricular programme enables girls to develop their interests and talents.

A balanced approach to life and learning ensures that girls go on to lead successful, fulfilling lives.

The Abbey is consistently one of the country’s top-performing schools academically.

In 2013 52 per cent of GCSE papers received an A* grade (85 per cent A*/A). At A Level 95 per cent of papers were graded A* to B.


Meanwhile, the International Baccalaureate Diploma average score of 39 points confirmed the school’s world-class delivery of the IB programme. From nursery to sixth form, the school’s ethos is centred on empowering girls to become confident, independent and enthusiastic learners.

Extracurricular opportunities play an important part in the school community, with music, drama, art and sport plus many interest clubs contributing to a happy, energetic atmosphere that is highly valued by the girls.

In September 2014 the new headmistress, Mrs Rachel Dent, will take up her post following Mrs Stanley’s retirement.
