Ab fab antique fair
Published 27/05/14

A NEW regular antique and collectables fair in Caversham provides a chance to choose from some wonderful items and purchase something special.

On the first Thursday of the month (except for August) in the lounge of Caversham Heath Golf Club, the small and friendly fair was started by Ab Antiquo last October who felt that some people who were occupied with family events at weekends would have available time in the week to visit. Already, stallholders have noticed that many of their customers are repeat visitors who have commented on the fair’s welcoming atmosphere and selection of items which usually includes china, glass, jewellery and a variety of other antique and collectable objects.

There have also been favourable comments about the approachability and friendliness of the core group of stallholders. The stated aim is to reach a maximum of about 30 to 35 tables to afford regular visitors the opportunity to get to know stallholders who could then assist in searching for items of specific interest.

The fair also gives an opportunity to meet friends in the lounge, admire the views over the golf course and enjoy the facilities which include very reasonably-priced tea, coffee, cakes and other items on the menu.

The fair’s location on the A4074 towards Oxford allows the chance for dealers, collectors and visitors to combine it with a visit to the Thursday antique fair in Oxford.

The Caversham Heath Golf Club venue can be easily located by satnav or by following signs for Mapledurham House, located close to the venue. The fair is well signposted and there is ample free parking.

Entrance is 50p and half the proceeds go to Helen & Douglas House charity.
