Chaplin leads the way

REMENHAM Angling Society’s winter series continued at Holme Grange Lake near Wokingham with the fourth leg being fished.

The method feeder or bomb proved to be the best tactics on the day as the top three all fished these methods. Top spot on the day was Ian Chaplin whose all-carp catch weighed in at 68lb 8oz all caught on the method feeder with corn.

In a close second place from the next peg was Steve Johnson with 67lb of carp caught on the bomb and method feeder also with corn and in third place was Paul Howard with 26lb 6oz of carp landed on the method feeder with pellet. Section winners were Dick Shillitto with 25lb 8oz and Mark Bowerman with 17lb 8oz. The following week it was Campbell’s and Chargoi at Milton Pools being fished in the fifth leg of the series. Winner on this occasion was Pete Bowles with 45lb 10oz of carp caught at 11 metres on the pole with maggot fishing on Campbell’s.

Second and third places both came from Chargoi Lake with Rodney Smith in second place with 22lb 4oz made up of three small carp along with roach and skimmers caught on the pole at eight metres with maggot and in third place was Mark Bowerman with 18lb 10oz of carp skimmers and roach all caught on the pole with maggot. Section winners were Steve Johnson with 14lb 6oz and Mark Garnet with 13lb 10oz.
