Bowerman back in pole position

CHERITON FARM at Farley Hill was the venue for the fifth leg of the Remenham summer series on Sunday.

After losing most of his pole in the lake last week and having to return the following day with a boat to retrieve it, Mark Bowerman put it to good use as he fished pellet shallow at 14 metres catching small carp all day to weigh in a winning total of 111lb 8oz.

Not too far behind was Geoff Edwards continuing his fine form after not fishing last weekend’s match, with 109lb 8oz consisting of 80lb of small carp and nearly 30lb of skimmers, all caught on the pole at six metres and down the edge against the reeds with red maggot and meat. In third place was Steve Johnson with 99lb of carp caught on meat on the inside on the pole.

Section winners were Pete Bowles with 94lb 8oz, Paul Howard with 79lb 8oz and Graham Dodd with 65lb 8oz.

After five rounds the top five in the series are as follows: 1 Pete Bowles 82 points, 2 Ian Chaplin 80, 3 Geoff Edwards 78, 4 Graham Dodd 73, 5= Trevor Pearce and Dick Shillitto, 72.
