Wightman leads way

THE last two rounds of the Remenham Winter series have just been completed.

First up in round six was Bowsaw Lake near Odiham where Dave Wightman continued his winning run with a clear victory, fishing the pole at 11 metres with red maggot and catching carp, chub and small tench for a total weight of 41lb 9oz.

In second place was Steve Johnson with carp and chub caught on the pole and method feeder with pellet for a total of 22lb 14oz just edging Dick Shillitto into third place with 22lb 8oz of carp also caught on the pole and method feeder.

Section winners were Graham Dodd with 9lb 4oz and Paul Passander with 10lb. The seventh round fished at Milton Pools with Campbell’s Lake on Sunday saw Wightman having to be content with second place as Graham Dodd triumphed in difficult conditions with heavy rain and strong winds hampering fishing.

Dodd fished the pole at 16 metres with pellet landing 33 small carp for a total of 59lb 8oz while Wightman weighed in 40lb 6oz of carp all caught on the pole at 11 metres with red maggot. In third place was Shillitto with 33lb of carp caught on the pole at 14.5 metres with pellet.
