THE seventh leg of Remenham Angling Society’s Chairman’s Trophy took place at Wood Lane Fishery near Iver and turned out to be a low weight match as the resident carp and silver fish were not in the feeding mood.
Winner on the day was Ian Chaplin with five small carp and one skimmer totalling 16lb 11oz all caught on the method feeder with corn. This was marginally ahead of Justin York with 16lb 8oz consisting of small carp and skimmers landed on the method feeder with pellet and in third place was Paul Howard with 15lb 4oz of carp and skimmers caught on the method feeder.
Last Sunday was Bowsaw Lake near Odiham that provided the venue for the eighth leg of the series. Howard was victorious on this occasion landing carp to double figures on the pole at 6 metres with maggot for a winning total of 128lb 5oz. In second place was 12-year-old junior angler Joe Bowles with an impressive 100lb 10oz also landing carp up to double figures on the pole at six metres with corn and in third place was Dick Shillitto with 51lb of carp caught on the pole with maggot.
