Dodds leads the way in summer series

Johnson’s impressive 110lb haul of small carp were all taken on the pole at short range alternating between paste and meat to finish more than 40lb clear of the rest of the field.

In second place was Graham Dodd who fished the pole tight across to the far bank with red maggot for 69lb 12oz of carp. In third place was Trevor Pearce with 64lb 12oz of carp caught on the pole with meat.

Section winners were Mark Bowerman with 55lb 8oz and Brian Bowles with 46lb 10oz.

The following week saw Graham Dodd take the honours in the 10th leg of the series held at Whitehouse Lake near Tadley.

Dodd fished the pole between six and nine metres with meat to land tench and skimmer bream for a winning total of 29lb 1oz. In second place was Trevor Pearce with 25lb 4oz of carp and skimmers also caught on the pole with meat and in third was Steve Johnson with 20lb 6oz of carp, tench and skimmers.

Dodds’ win sees him take over at the top of the points table with 157 followed by Dick Shilitto with 149, Johnson and Pearce both with 130 and Dave Wightman with 129 make up the top five placings.
