Third place enough to secure title for Shillito

THE final leg of the Remenham Summer Series took place at Cheriton Farm on Sunday.

THE final leg of the Remenham Summer Series took place at Cheriton Farm on Sunday.

With only three points separating the top three and 10 points the top five it was to be a close finish to the series.

Winner on the day was Dave Wightman who fished the pole with red maggot close in tight to the reeds to catch small carp steadily through the match for a total of 80lb 4oz.

In second place from the next peg was Geoff Edwards fishing similar tactics to weigh in 75lb of carp and in third was Dick Shillito with 68lb 2oz of carp caught on the pole with pellet at 10 metres and down the edge. Section winners were Steve Johnson with 53lb 4oz, Pete Bowles with 61lb 10oz and Mark Bowerman with 47lb 12oz.

Shillito’s third place was enough to see him win the series with 190 points and with Graham Dodd finishing in eighth position and Steve Johnson in fifth it saw a tie between the two with Johnson taking second place on weight countback.

The top five in the final table were as follows: 1 Shillito 190 points, 2 Johnson 185 (762lb 4oz), 3 Dodd 185 (670lb 4oz), 4 Wightman 182, 5 Trevor Pearce 172.
