Wightman secures honours

REMENHAM anglers travelled to Bowsaw Lake near Odiham on Sunday to fish the first leg of the Chairman’s Trophy.

REMENHAM anglers travelled to Bowsaw Lake near Odiham on Sunday to fish the first leg of the Chairman’s Trophy.

Top weight of the day and scoring maximum points was Dave Wightman who fished red maggot on the pole close in tight to the lily pads to catch carp up to double figures for a total of 185lb 8oz.

This was well ahead of Dick Shillito in second place with 109lb 12oz of carp mostly caught on the method feeder with pellet fished across to the island. In third position was Steve Johnson who fished both the pole with meat and the method feeder with pellet to weigh in 102lb 2oz of mostly carp.

Section winners were Graham Dodd with 85lb 10oz and Trevor Pearce with 100lb 10oz.
