AN ICON of the textile industry is to be interviewed as part of a special evening
AN ICON of the textile industry is to be interviewed as part of a special evening event at Henley fabric warehouse and sewing centre Lady Sew and Sew.
Kaffe Fassett this year celebrates 50 years working in colour and textiles and 25 years designing fabrics. The American-born 77-year-old has previously run workshops at Lady Sew and Sew’s Farm Road premises.
A spokesman for Lady Sew and Sew said: “Love him or hate him, Kaffe is an icon in the fabric and knitting industry and has shaped many of the designs of the current time. He grew up in a house that once belonged to Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth, and had Henry Miller as a neighbour.
“It would be difficult to grow up surrounded by people like Joan Baez, Jack Kerouac and Steve McQueen and not have a host of stories and memories to tell.”
The in-conversation event takes place on Wednesday, December 2, at 7.30pm. Asking the questions prior to an audience Q&A will be
Ultimate Knitting Bible author Sharon Brant.
Tickets for the event are priced £20, including a glass of wine, and can be booked at www.ladysewandsew.co.uk or by calling (01491) 572528.
