AFTER months of hard training, the day had finally arrived, writes our reporter Jamie Presland.
The familiar pre-race nerves were beginning to rumble as I parked my car and then walked to Henley Rugby Club.
I joined the hordes of runners for the start, all of us doing last-minute stretches, gulping down energy drinks and eyeing up potential rivals over the 13-mile course.
I was towards the back when the race started so it was another two minutes before I crossed the start line and got under way.
Having set myself a target of finishing in under two hours, I needed to average around nine minutes per mile.
