Rematch ends in draw

HENLEY Junior Triathlon Club competed in a rematch triathlon against Reading Thames Valley TriStars at Shiplake

HENLEY Junior Triathlon Club competed in a rematch triathlon against Reading Thames Valley TriStars at Shiplake College on Sunday.

The mixed discipline event was planned as an aquathon â?? swim then run â?? and was competed for by 43 juniors across three age categories.

The swim took place in the school’s open-air pool in seven separately timed waves. Each wave began with a frenzied group start followed by circular laps around buoys.

Swim distances covered 250m for U12s, 300m U14s and 350m U16s, boys and girls alike. Athletes then raced to the transition zone and changed into run kit. The run part of the race dropped down to the river path and returned back up to the finish line next to the pool after 2.5km, 3km and 3.5km run loops, respectively.

The event was the first competitive triathlon hosted by Tri Henley which ended in a draw. For Tri Henley Club, Daisy Butterworth took first in the U16 girls, Saoirse McClure-Fisher first in U14 girls and Archie Griggs first in U12 boys. Nancie Bowley came second in U14 girls, Hugo Warner second in U14 boys and Tom Edmondson second in the youth section, equal with TVT Alex Osbourne. Adam Hunt secured third place in the U12 boys.
