SACRED HEART finished second in the final Chiltern Edge Primary School cross country race to win the series by just half a point.
The third and final race of the series was won by Sonning Common who took 40 points to Sacred Heart’s 43.
Sacred Heart secured the overall title with 120.5 points with Sonning Common runners-up with 120 and Trinity third on 98.
There was further success for Sacred Heart as Will Thompson secured the Year 6 boys’ trophy while Rupert House’s Claudia Kerry Royer took the girls’ accolade. Thomas Hennie of St Mary’s won the Year 5 boys’ trophy with Clemmie Thorpe taking the honours for the girls. In Year 4 Daneshill’s Nicholas Thomas triumphed for the boys and Nettlebed’s Charlotte Ashby for the girls while Jack Renders of Shiplake won the Year 3 boys’ honours with Rosie King of South Stoke taking the girls’ honours.
Speaking after the win, a delighted Sacred Heart team organiser Emma Ryan said: “Every one of us held our breath when we heard there were just 0.5 points separating the top two teams.
