Woolven finishes sixth for Britain

AN athlete from Medmenham finished sixth in the FISU World University Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

AN athlete from Medmenham finished sixth in the FISU World University Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

Pippa Woolven, 22, was a member of the Great Britain team which performed in Cassino, Italy, and she did well in a field of 380 runners in difficult race conditions.

She was their second highest finisher, behind Jenny Nesbitt who came fourth, and helped the team win a silver medal in the team competition. Her remaining teammates finished 17th, 24th and 25th respectively as Japan ran out overall winners.

Woolven is now aiming to gain the qualifying time in the coming months for the Rio Olympics this summer.
