WOODCOTE won the derby clash at CHECKENDON on Sunday by seven wickets.
Visiting skipper Jonny Aldridge elected to field and the home batsmen struggled against the opening attack of JP Brouard and Mike Stroker. Checkendon’s cause was not aided by both openers being run out but the pace and movement of JP Brouard coupled with good catching and fielding were the main reasons why the home team were dismissed cheaply.
After tea the Woodcote batsmen were given a torrid time by Tony Breakspear but Ryan Lennard’s unbeaten half century proved to be a match winner.
With Mike Stroker at the other end a 50 partnership was achieved, with the help of a couple of dropped catches, which saw Woodcote over the winning line.
