CAMPBELL’S LAKE at Milton Pools was the venue for the 12th leg of the Remenham Winter Series on Sunday.
Club chairman Roger Howard secured his first win of the season with a narrow victory over Steve Johnson in the next peg.
Howard fished the pole at 13 metres, landing a few small carp before switching to the nearside bank and fishing to a tree stump where he caught carp consistently for the second half of the match, weighing in 51lb 2oz.
Second-placed Johnson weighed in 50lb 2oz of carp caught on the pole with corn and pellet and in third place was Mark Bowerman with 46lb 3oz of carp caught on the pole with meat and corn.
In the match the previous week at Billhook Lake near Odiham, Pete Bowles was victorious fishing the method feeder with pellet, landing carp up to 8lb for a total of 72lb10oz. In second place was Paul Howard who also fished the method feeder alternating between pellet and corn on the hook, catching carp to weigh in 50lb 3oz and in third place was Ian Chaplin with 44lb of carp caught on the pole with corn.
With Just two rounds remaining in the series Pete Bowles leads the way with 218 points with Dick Shilitto second with 180, Steve Johnson third with 176, Ian Chaplin fourth with 174 and Dave Wightman with 133 making up the top five.
