Time for Pilates

MIDWIVES and GPs recommend Pilates as one of the best forms of exercise during pregnancy and postnatally.

MIDWIVES and GPs recommend Pilates as one of the best forms of exercise during pregnancy and postnatally.

Pregnancy is a time of enormous physical, hormonal and emotional change. Any exercise you do should take these factors into account, whilst maintaining a level of fitness that is beneficial to you and to your baby. Pilates will help make your pregnancy more comfortable and pain-free. You will also learn to relax — invaluable throughout pregnancy, during the birth itself, and as you care for your newborn baby afterwards.

For postnatal mums the exercises are designed to suit both natural and caesarean births, helping you stabilise and strengthen your core muscles and upper body. This not only helps counteract the strain of breastfeeding and carrying baby, but also helps you get your figure back.

For more than six years Christine Brook has been running antenatal and postnatal classes in the Sonning Common area. Each class has a maximum of six ladies, where you will be provided with exercises suitable for your pregnancy or postnatal stage. You can join at any stage, and daytime postnatal classes are designed for mums accompanied by babies. For open or private classes contact Chris on 0118 924 2515, email chris@time4pilates.co.uk, or visit www.time4pilates.co.uk
