The Dog & Badger in Medmenham has also appointed manager Mo Hoffelner, who has more than 20 years’ experience, including at Harvey Nichols’ Fifth Floor restaurant and the Hand & Flowers in Marlow.

New head chef Sam Walton will be broadening the menu with some British and European classics but still focused on locally-sourced produce, including vegetables grown in the cottage gardens.

The six new rooms has been named after gin botanicals — Juniper, Angelica, Cassia, Hibiscus, Honeysuckle and Poppy — and are situated in Gillman’s Cottage, a Grade II listed former ale house in the grounds of the restaurant.
