TRADERS in Henley say they enjoyed strong sales in the run-up to Christmas.
Many reported better figures than last year after December began with the Christmas Festival and late-night shopping event.
Gillian Nahum, owner of Boatique in Hart Street, said: “Christmas was really great. We had fantastic support from local people who came in and brought friends.
“We had a lot of people come in for little gifts for their secret Santas, which shows you don’t have to spend £100 or more.
“We almost doubled our takings on December 2012. We also had a good first week in January when last year it was appalling.”
