The Saturday morning hangover cure... visit the pub

THE new landlord of a Henley pub is to introduce a Saturday “recovery club”.

Rob Hooton has taken over the Bell in Bell Street following the retirement of long-serving landlord Bill Dobson.

Among his ideas is a Saturday lunchtime offer to those who might need to recover from the night before of egg and bacon rolls and tea of coffee — accompanied by soft music in the background. Mr Hooton, 38, and his partner Pamela Myles, 48, came up with the idea after the New Year celebrations.

He said: “I took over the pub close to New Year’s Eve and didn’t really have the time to plan something so we decided to hold something on New Year’s Day.

“We put on some music and did bacon and eggs rolls with tea and coffee. It was very popular so we thought why not carry on? At the end of a long hard week it’s nice to have a bit of calm on a Saturday morning. The recovery club isn’t just for those who have overindulged, we’re expecting it to draw in others looking for sanctuary from a busy Saturday.
