Bags to compost

COMPOSTABLE shopping bags are being offered to customers of the Co-op in Benson.

The bags, which cost 6p each, are strong enough to carry groceries and can then be turned into compost, along with their waste.

The Co-op hopes the bags, which are made from natural materials, will encourage shoppers to recycle more food waste and help reduce the number of conventional carrier bags, which end up in landfill and can take decades to break down naturally.
