A HOUSE in Wargrave proved to be the perfect combination for Mark and Emma Smith. When they moved in 10 years ago the property’s age, size, style and location were exactly what they were looking for.
Now after a decade of family life, they are ready to move on to the next chapter and their “perfect family home” is waiting for someone else to fall in love with it.
Gladdy House is a charming Grade-II listed property, believed to date back to the 1600s. It is reputedly called the Gladdy House because it was believed to have been in the ownership of the same family for about 300 years.
Having raised two girls in the house who are now approaching teenage-hood, Mark and Emma are looking to relocate to Henley town centre. While their home has tremendous character including some exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, antique tiles and beautiful stone fireplaces, a contemporary decorative twist has been brought to the interior to show it off at its best.
Emma said: “We have loved living here. We extended the kitchen and have decorated throughout. We moved here from London and the storage space was amazing — there were so many more cupboards.”
