Coffee house owner opens tea shop cafe

A CAFÉ selling teas from around the world opened in Henley on Wednesday.

Upstairs and Downstairs in Duke Street opened in September as a shop selling 45 different types of loose tea, teapots, cups and other accessories.

Now there is also the first-floor café that sells cakes, sandwiches and hot food. The café, which is decorated in Art Deco-style, is run by Lorraine Hillier, who also owns the Hot Gossip coffee house in Friday Street.

Miss Hillier, a town councillor, took over the lease of the former Askew Art gallery after two years of searching for a venue.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to getting up and running and getting some of Henley’s lovely people in here. It will have a relaxing atmosphere for people to take a bit of time away from the bustle of the high street and enjoy a cup of tea.”
