Starting young

OXFORDSHIRE is bucking the trend for the number of new apprentices.

A total of 1,187 16- to 18-year-olds started an apprenticeship in 2012/13, a 4.7 per cent increase on the previous year, according to figures released by the county council to promote National Apprenticeship Week.

Nationally, there was a 12 per cent decline.
