Engineer honoured by peers

A CIVIL engineer from Wargrave has been honoured by his industry.

Ian Kirker was made a fellow of the Institute of Civil Engineers at a ceremony in London.

Mr Kirker, who has worked for Reading-based Foster Wheeler for 24 years, was presented with his fellowship by Institute president Geoff French.

He said: “It’s a privilege to be recognised by your peers. I was obviously very pleased and it’s a great honour.

“I just hope I can live up to all the people who have reached this level before. It’s quite an achievement in your career and very few people get to this level.”
