HENLEY pub company Brakspear has won an industry award.
It was named best tenanted and leased pub company in the country at the Publican Awards 2014 held in London. The two other shortlisted companies were Wiltshire-based Wadworths and Liberation, from the Channel Islands.
Brakspear chief executive Tom Davies said: “This is a great result for Brakspear and we’re extremely proud to be named the best tenanted pub company ahead of a very strong field of talented competitors.
“We’re particularly pleased to win this award as it’s not based solely on how we presented ourselves to judges. They visited several Brakspear pubs in and around Henley, conducted mystery visits across the estate and spoke confidentially to a number of our licensees. This is genuinely an award for pub operators who treat their tenants well.”
The judges pointed to the company’s wide-ranging support for its tenants, including a customised interior design service, bespoke marketing support and training courses for licensees and their staff.
