Youth groups given cash boost

FOUR youth groups in Watlington have received a cash boost from the town’s business association.

A total of £800 was shared among the youth club, football club, fire service cadets and scouts.

Cheques were presented at the association’s annual meeting held at the Fat Fox Inn in Shirburn Street. Chairman Simon Jones, of auctioneers Jones & Jacob, said: “We are delighted to be able to give back to the community and support four local youth organisations.

“The donations are also to say thank you for the support the association has received from the groups during the various events that we hold during the year.” The association had a successful year with its flagship event, the Christmas fair, raising enough to pay for the town’s Christmas lights as well as make the donations.

Mr Jones also revealed that details of an online survey had been sent to all businesses in Watlington known to the association to see what they wanted from it in future.
