300 sign NatWest petition

ABOUT 300 people have signed a petition calling for the Sonning Common branch of NatWest to be kept open.

The bank has said that the Peppard Road branch will close on August 29 due to a dwindling number of customers and the increased use of online banking.

An online petition to keep the bank open has been signed by 96 people and a paper versions in Brighton’s Newsagents in Peppard Road has been signed by about 200.

Parish councillor Dirk Jones, who set up the online petition, said: “Most people are very upset about it, even people who don’t use the bank. The bank is there for the village and has been there for years and people are very unhappy about this.”

You can sign the petition at Heath and Watkins and Pet Supplies in Wood Lane or visit www.petitions24.com/signatures/stop_natwest_ closing_the_sonning_ common_bank
