No messing required for riverside home

The marquees are up, the rowers are limbering up and the champagne will soon be on ice. Henley Royal Regatta will be upon us once again next week and all eyes will be on the river. Standard property correspondent JACKY HAYLER spies the properties on offer beside Henley’s greatest asset, the River Thames.

LOCATED close to the popular village of Wargrave, just outside Henley, is an exceptional, award-winning, riverside home which was designed by the acclaimed architect John Pardey.

The property is raised on slender steel stilts offering a wealth of light and space with elevated living rooms maximising the riverside setting off this private road.

An external staircase leads to the main entrance of the property at first floor level. The main entrance takes you into the centre of the house where you are afforded panoramic views of the river and fields beyond. The kitchen is at the heart of the house and features Gaggenau appliances and a range set into a centre island with breakfast seating.

The property’s living space is extensive and attractively designed, comprising a more formal living and dining room off the kitchen with a central modern fireplace and views out over the River Loddon. A larger double height living area is set at a half level below the hallway with a log burner, French doors and large wooden terrace all overlooking the main lawn with 270 degree views of the river. There are five bedrooms off the hallway with fantastic views. The main bedroom has an ensuite, there are two further bathrooms and three of the bedrooms have their own balconies.
