Protesters take account of bank’s withdrawal

CAMPAIGNERS fighting to save the only bank in Sonning Common have handed over a petition with hundreds of signatures.

Fifty residents gathered outside NatWest in Peppard Road on Monday morning.

They were some of the 940 people who have signed a petition to save the bank, which is expected to close on August 29.

Dirk Jones, a member of Sonning Common Parish Council who organised the meeting, handed the petition to Gavin Owen, local chief executive officer at NatWest.

Mr Owen refused to come outside but said he would stay at the bank to answer any questions residents had.
