‘Workaholic’ jeweller can finally take it easy

A JEWELLER is retiring after spending more than half of his career working in Henley.

David Lendon has been in the trade for 52 years and has owned DJ King in Bell Street since 1982.

His customers have included magician Paul Daniels and his wife Debbie McGee and Olympic rowers Sir Matthew Pinsent and Sir Steve Redgrave.

Mr Lendon, 67, who lives in Camberley with his wife, Eve Gigg, 68, said: “I still enjoy the work and would have liked to keep going for another couple of years but my body is old and decrepit now.

“We are open six days a week but I had a pacemaker fitted last September and that’s when my wife insisted I cut down to five days a week.
