The Red Lion was named best food pub in the South-East and London in the Great British Pub Awards, run by the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.
Landlady Eilidh Ferguson, who runs the pub with her partner and head chef Andrew Hill, said: “We’re just so happy and it’s so nice for Andrew to get recognition for his food. When it’s an industry award, it really does make the hard work feel worth it.”
She paid tribute to the pub staff, saying: “Andrew couldn’t do it without them, it really is a team effort.”
The Red Lion menu features dishes such as a black pudding Scotch egg, duck hearts on toast with balsamic vinegar and truffle oil and pan-fried Brixham turbot fillet, saffron potatoes, bouillabaisse sauce and rouille.
