Pair to receive award for reviving ailing pub

THE landlords of a Goring pub have won an award for turning around the fortunes of the business.

The Catherine Wheel in Station Road was named best turnaround pub in the South-East and London region of the Great British Pub Awards.

James Dawe, who became joint licensee with Tim Schulz two years ago, said: “We’re thrilled to have won this award. It’s a great endorsement of our business from independent industry judges.

“I’m grateful to all my wonderful staff who have worked so hard to make the Catherine Wheel an award-winner.”

The awards are organised by the Publican’s Morning Advertiser, a trade magazine.Editor Rob Willock said: “This award recognises pubs that have demonstrated the best turnaround of business in the past year.
