AMERICAN novelist Tracy Chevalier gave a sold-out talk at Lady Sew and Sew in Henley.

A total of 100 people attended the lecture and question and answer session at the warehouse, off Reading Road, on Wednesday.

Members of Maidenhead Quilters had put together an exhibition of the patterns mentioned which she referred to.

The Last Runaway is an account of a young English Quaker girl in 1850s Ohio and her moral dilemmas whilst helping runaway slaves along the “Underground Railroad”, a secret network to safety in Canada.

The quilt exhibition is running at Lady Sew and Sew until Tuesday. For more information, visit ladysewandsew.co.uk or call (01491) 572528.
