Businessman gives to Scottish ‘no’ campaign

A BUSINESSMAN from Wargrave has donated £10,000 to a pro-Union group in the Scottish referendum campaign.

Joe Hemani gave the money to Let’s Stay Together, which held a rally in Trafalgar Square on Monday evening.

The rally was organised by TV historian Dan Snow, who was joined by activist Bob Geldolf and comedian Eddie Izzard.

Mr Hemani is the founder of computer systems and software company Westcoast, vice-president of Chelsea Football Club and chairman of Henley Golf Club. Scots vote yesterday (Thursday) on whether the country should stay in the UK or become an independent nation.

With 4,285,323 people — 97 per cent of the electorate — registered to vote, a high turnout was expected.
