Boating shop moves premises

A SHOP in Henley specialising in products for boating enthusiasts is to move premises.

Boatique in Hart Street will close at the end of trading tomorrow (Saturday) and re-open in Friday Street at the site formerly occupied by antiques shop The Ferret on Saturday, November 1.

Proprietor Gillian Nahum said: “The footfall is not great in Hart Street and we were not on the sunny side of the street and I think that makes a difference.

“We need to be in a more vibrant area and I think Friday Street is a really great venue for independents now. It will be more like the department store that I originally envisaged.

Boatique opened in Hart Street two-and-a-half years ago but Mrs Nahum said: “We were having days when we’d get only one of two people in and you can’t survive taking £30 a day. But I don’t want to desert Henley — if there’s anywhere that can support a nice, nautically-themed shop it has to be Henley.”
