New-look post office opens daily

SONNING COMMON post office is to be refurbished and to open for another 70 hours each week.

SONNING COMMON post office is to be refurbished and to open for another 70 hours each week.

The branch in the One Stop Shop in Wood Lane closed yesterday (Thursday) and will re-open next Friday with a new open-plan layout.

The new opening hours will be 6am to 10pm every day.

The move is part of the Post Office’s plans to modernise the network.

Mark Lawrence, regional network manager for South and East England, said: “This modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6,000 branches converted to new-style local branches.

“The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.

“We understand how important having a post office is to residents of Sonning Common and we are confident that the post office local service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”

During the refurbishment the nearest alternative post offices are at Emmer Green precinct and Binfield Heath Stores.
