A GORING firm has won two national accolades in its first year.

Online furnishings supplier Styleabode, which Rebecca and Mark Woolmington run from their home in Springhill Road, was chosen by Dragon’s Den star Theo Paphitis for his Small Business Sunday awards.

To enter the competition, the couple had to contact Paphitis via social networking site Twitter and describe their business in a 160-letter message.

They sent him a New Year greeting and a link to their website. A few days later, they were told they had won.

They were given space on the entrepreneur and Ryman chairman’s website to promote their venture. Mrs Woolmington also won silver in the annual Mumpreneur Awards, which recognise mothers who run successful businesses.

The couple, who have 11-year-old twins, James and Ryan, set up Styleabode in July. It sells and delivers decorations for homes and gardens, as well as jewellery and other personal effects.

Mrs Woolmington is a self-employed HR consultant and her husband works in IT in London but they hope to be able to focus on the business full-time.

Mrs Woolmington said: “Although we believe in ourselves, it’s a real boost to get external recognition from people who know a lot about business.”
