A COMPANY that produces coconut oil has been shortlisted for an award.

Essence of Eden, based in Brightwell Baldwin, was nominated in the super food category of the FreeFrom Food Awards for its 100 per cent premium raw oil.

The annual awards celebrate innovation in the production of food that is free of ingredients such as wheat, gluten and dairy.

Lorraine Royal, director of Essence of Eden, said: “We are highly delighted that our exceptional quality coconut oil has been shortlisted as it helps raise awareness of the differing grades of coconut oil now. Since inception in 2004, it has been our quest to source and make available to all the very best oil we could find and that has been achieved consistently — a record we are very proud of.”

The oil has previously won the store cupboard staples award at the Times and Soil Association’s organic food awards. It was also highly commended at the FreeFrom Food Awards in 2011.

This year’s FreeFrom Awards will be announced at a ceremony presented by Antony Worrall Thompson on April 16.
