A FORMER barmaid is returning to work at her old pub — but this time she will be in charge.

Claire Hollis, who had a part-time job at the Bull & Butcher in Turville when she was a student, has been made general manager.

The 29-year-old was previously manager at the Stag and Huntsman in Hambleden, where she grew up. She worked there for eight years.

Miss Hollis, who lives in Stokenchurch, is planning a series of events, including a charity quiz night, disco evening and French food and wine tasting.

She said: “I will use my years of experience to make sure the pub is meeting the needs of local customers. Let’s hope we finally get a good summer and are able to enjoy being outside the pub as well as inside it.”

This summer, the Bull & Butcher will launch a lunchtime menu aimed at visitors.

The Brakspear pub has also bought a barbecue and plans to hold regular hog roasts.
