Working together

ABOUT 100 women attended a shopping fair at a Henley hotel which featured independent businesses.

Stallholders at Hotel du Vin in New Street donated 10 per cent of their profits, almost £500, to the Face of Henley charity, which provides financial support for those experiencing tragedy or hardship.

Organiser Sarah West, from Kingwood, said: “It was a lovely day which was enjoyed by all. The hotel was very pleased with the business the event attracted and would like to run it again.

“By taking it to a hotel it is benefiting the customer and the venue as well as us ladies because we’re all together in one space.

“I can utilise their database and they can utilise mine, so they can invite their friends and I do the same and we all share. It works — it’s a supportive network.”

Mrs West, 47, a mother-of-two, added: “I’ve always been interested in looking after ladies and providing things that they want about image and quality.

“I think Henley ladies are discerning buyers and know what they like. They’re not necessarily all affluent or have disposable income, but they’re a very sociable group of people.”
